Tooth filling – what we need to know about it

לוגו

One of the most common operations in dentistry is filling a tooth. This is an action that almost everyone goes through at some point in their lives. The idea is simple, a cavity is formed in the tooth and it must be sealed so that it does not fill with bacteria. The filling makes it possible to restore the original appearance of the tooth.

Tooth filling is a very common operation since many people do not take care to brush their teeth correctly and in general to maintain oral hygiene, which causes caries to accumulate in the tooth and cause damage to it.

Among other things, it causes the cavity in the tooth to form. In many cases the patient will feel the hole, certainly if it is large (one of the ways he will feel the blockage is through sensitivity to cold and heat), but there are rare cases in which he will not notice at all that he has a hole, until he comes to the doctor’s examination. So the doctor will suggest that he perform a filling immediately so that the space does not grow.

Tooth filling – how do you approach the process?

It should be said, there are differences between different operations for filling a tooth. The differences arise from aspects such as the size of the space, its location as well as the type of sealing that can and should be done (brick). There are cases where the occlusion is part of a wider process at the end of which the doctor will want to place a crown on the tooth in order to fully restore it.

At the level of principle, the process of filling a tooth does not last more than half an hour to three quarters of an hour. The patient does not need to prepare for the process in a special way, but he must take into account that this is a treatment that may be uncomfortable and even painful at the beginning (if anesthesia is necessary, then the doctor will have to inject a substance near the tooth area).

There are cases where the treatment is done without anesthetics, if it is a small blockage and a quick procedure.

During the treatment, the doctor will clean the area thoroughly, then seal it with a filler and then place the material that will perform the sealing itself. At the end of the treatment, the doctor will make sure to give the patient instructions to continue.

Usually, he will be asked not to eat for an hour or two until the effect of the anesthesia wears off. If you want to know more about filling a tooth, now is the time to contact us and the Dental Art Clinic team will be happy to be at your disposal.
